Who is dalona?

in her own words

I was born in Nashville and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan in a family where music wasn't a hobby. It was the air we breathed. My mother is a gifted gospel vocalist and church was four, five days a week, every week. That foundation never left me.

I'm DALONA. Singer, songwriter, and vocal producer rooted in gospel and soul, shaped by everything I've lived since. My sound sits somewhere between Jazmine Sullivan and Erykah Badu, honest and layered and always reaching for something true.

I've vocal produced every project I've released and have begun bringing that same ear to other artists. On stage, I'm at home. I've performed at Exit/In, The Analog at Hutton Hotel, Anzie Blue, and the National Museum of African American Music's First Note Showcase, and I bring the same intentionality to a live room that I bring to a studio session.

Two EPs out. A debut album in early development. And one throughline across all of it: I make music because I want people to feel seen. That desire is what has sustained me through every high and every hard season this industry brings. That's the community I'm building. One song at a time.

PRESS & INDUSTRY BIO

DALONA is a Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and vocal producer working across R&B Soul, R&B Pop, and Alternative R&B, with gospel roots that run deep. Her vocal identity draws comparisons to Lalah Hathaway, YEBBA, and Rachelle Ferrell. Those comparisons make sense when you know where she comes from: raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, her earliest musical DNA is the Detroit gospel sound of the Clark Sisters and the soul and Motown tradition that city carried into the world. Her mother is a gifted gospel vocalist and church was four and five days a week. That formation is audible in everything she makes.

She returned to her birthplace of Nashville in 2019 and has been building a deliberate body of work ever since. Her debut EP Burning Journals arrived in 2023, followed by Love & Delusion in 2025 and its expanded deluxe edition Love & Delusion(s) in 2026, both executive produced by Mark Evich, Zakk Garner, and Korey Keys. The project marked a significant creative turning point and expanded both her catalog and her live audience. A debut album is currently in early development targeting 2028, and represents the most personal and ambitious project of her career.

DALONA has vocal produced every project she has released, giving her recordings a distinctive intimacy and precision. She has begun extending that expertise to other artists, shaping vocal performances and arrangements from the inside out. Additional collaborators include Kenny Sharp, co-writer and founder of Nashville Family Affair, one of the city's most consistent and successful R&B events, and Atlanta-based artist and producer Aaron Dews.

On stage she is seasoned and at home. She has been featured at Exit/In, The Analog at Hutton Hotel, Anzie Blue, and 1865 Club, and was selected as a featured performer at the National Museum of African American Music's First Note Showcase in 2026. She brings the same intentionality to a live room that she brings to a studio session.

DALONA makes music to make people feel seen. That mission drives every creative decision and has sustained her through every season this industry brings.
